Pismo Beach Municipal Code (Codified Ordinances)
The Pismo Beach Municipal Code comprises all current, codified laws of the City, whether adopted as regular or urgency ordinances.
From time to time, certain urgency ordinances may be in effect but not codified (i.e. they do not appear in the text of the Municipal Code). Those ordinances are available below.
- O-2022-005: Urgency Moratorium on new Short-Term Rental licensing (expired 8/5/2022)
- O-2022-007: Extended Urgency Moratorium on new Short-Term Rental licensing (expires 6/20/2023)
- O-2022-003: Extended Urgency Moratorium on new Short-Tern Rental licensing (expires 6/20/2024)
All Adopted Ordinances are available in the Access Pismo public records portal. These documents include regular and urgency, codified and uncodified, ordinances. Please note that many of the ordinances in the legislative record are wholly or partially defunct or superseded. Please refer to the Pismo Beach Municipal Code for current regulations.
About the Municipal Code
The Pismo Beach Municipal Code comprises the local regulations of the City of Pismo Beach. As each new regular ordinance is adopted by the City Council, its contents are codified and integrated into the overall Code.
Please note that occasional Urgency Ordinances, because they are not codified, do not appear in the Municipal Code even while they are in effect. Such Ordinances are available in the folder of all adopted ordinances.
Regular ordinances become effective 30 days from the date of their adoption by City Council, unless otherwise specified in the Ordinance. Urgency Ordinances become effective immediately upon adoption. The City utilizes third-party professional codifiers to help assure the accuracy of ordinance codification; as such, updates take time to process and occasionally, an ordinance may be in effect before it is codified. All adopted ordinances, including those not yet codified, are available in the folder of all adopted ordinances.
